“This is my first art exhibition! I am currently a student at Penn West Edinboro University studying art education and fine arts. This show is filled with my most recent work. I have been playing around with abstraction and the manipulation of color, space, and depth. I want these paintings to be compelling to you, and make you look at the piece for some time to pick it apart. When you inspect the paintings, you can see each brush stroke, how individual they are, their color variations, sizes, and directions. Up close it would be harder to see what is going on in some of the paintings, but when you take a step back it becomes more clear.
I like pulling every hue out of something to make it more emotional and colorful. When painting, I am noticing myself leaning towards a more gestural approach to painting the subject. My style has changed quite a bit over the past couple years, but I believe that is a good thing. I am finding myself as an artist and showing the world how I see and what I feel when painting through my art. My goal is for this show to portray my excitement and experimental mindset through my art.”
