Idols by Miguel Santana

All my pieces are inspired by childhood hero’s and their character traits I could relate to.

My name is  Miguel Santana, I am a self taught artist and designer from Buffalo, New York . I have been

creative for as long as I can remember. I have been painting for 10 years. I also tuft rugs, design clothes and do graphic design.

My paint style is realism mixed with pop art lines.  My paintings canvases for this collection starts as 8ft x 4ft board of pine plywood. I personalize my own designs, I draw the outline of my image on the wood, then cut it out with a jig saw. I hand paint my ideas using acrylic paint, then epoxy resin over it to give it glassy gloss finish.

I try to take inspiration from different styles of art but my main inspiration is comic artist like Jim lee and Todd McFarlane. As I grow my skill set in realism I still blend my comic book out lines and etch marks in the finished piece. My collection is named “IDOLS”. All my pieces are inspired by childhood hero’s and their character traits I could relate to.
