1989 Until the day after tomorrow

I hope to inspire a conversation about the myriad of effects that stereotypes cast among us

In life, we all go through evolution. Sometimes it’s a massive and noticeable change and other times it can barely be seen.

Join us on a journey through the dynamic and thought-provoking artwork of Joel Shackleford, a visionary black artist whose career has flourished over the past decade. In this captivating exhibition, Shackleford’s evolution as an artist unfolds, inviting viewers to delve into the depths of identity, perception, and societal constructs.

Shackleford’s powerful work challenges the prevailing stereotypes imposed upon black men in today’s world. Through his work, he fearlessly confronts these stereotypes, prompting viewers to question preconceived notions and engage in meaningful dialogue about race, masculinity, and representation.

From his early explorations of self-expression to his more recent investigations into cultural narratives, each piece in this exhibition serves as a testament to Shackleford’s unwavering commitment to authenticity and social critique. Through bold imagery, vivid colors, and poignant symbolism, he invites us to reconsider our understanding of black identity and challenge the status quo.

Until the day after tomorrow is more than just an exhibition; it’s a catalyst for change, a celebration of diversity, and a testament to the enduring power of art to provoke, inspire, and unite us all
